Client Grooming Agreement and Salon Policies
These Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) set out the basis on which East Lothian Dog Grooming (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides grooming services to clients (“you”, “your”). By booking an appointment, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Cancellations and Missed Appointments
1.1 We reserve the right to charge the full grooming fee for:
-
Appointments not attended (“no-shows”); or
-
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice.
1.2 We will endeavour to accommodate changes where possible, but adequate notice is required in order to reschedule appointments.
2. Late Arrival
2.1 If you are delayed, you must notify us as soon as possible.
2.2 Appointment times may be held for up to 15 minutes.
2.3 Where lateness prevents the groom being completed, we may:
-
Reschedule the appointment; or
-
Carry out a reduced groom within the remaining time.
3. Late Collection
3.1 We operate on a 1:1 service basis and cannot provide extended care beyond the agreed collection time.
3.2 You will be informed of your pet’s expected collection time.
3.3 If additional time is required, this must be agreed in advance.
4. De-Matting
4.1 Severely matted coats require additional attention and may necessitate clipping.
4.2 You acknowledge and accept that:
-
Removal of mats may cause minor nicks, cuts or abrasions, particularly where warts, moles or skin folds are present;
-
Matted coats may conceal pre-existing skin conditions (e.g. irritation, infection, fungus) only revealed during grooming;
-
Shaving may alter your dog’s appearance and coat texture.
4.3 A consent form must be signed prior to shaving for mat removal, confirming your acceptance of associated risks.
4.4 Regular grooming is the best preventative measure against matting.
5. Photographs and Videos
5.1 Unless expressly declined in writing, you consent to us:
-
Taking photographs or videos of your pet during grooming; and
-
Using such material, together with your pet’s name, for marketing, promotional, or advertising purposes in any medium.
6. Refusal of Service
6.1 We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue grooming services if, in our opinion:
-
Your pet poses a risk to itself, our staff, or others; or
-
Grooming cannot be carried out safely.
6.2 A muzzle may be applied where necessary for safety.
6.3 Fees may remain payable where grooming is curtailed for safety reasons.
7. Health, Medical Conditions and Senior Pets
7.1 You must disclose any health issues, medical conditions, or concerns prior to grooming.
7.2 We may refuse to groom if, in our judgment, it is not in the best interest of your pet’s health.
7.3 Grooming can be stressful, particularly for elderly pets or those with health issues, and may exacerbate existing or hidden conditions.
7.4 You authorise us to obtain veterinary treatment for your pet if deemed necessary. Veterinary costs remain your responsibility.
8. Aggressive or Dangerous Pets
8.1 You must disclose any known behavioural issues, including aggression towards people or animals, or a history of biting.
8.2 Failure to disclose such information may result in termination of the groom and continued liability for fees.
8.3 Where behavioural concerns are disclosed, reasonable precautions will be taken to minimise stress and ensure safety.
9. Accidents
9.1 Whilst all reasonable care is taken, grooming equipment is sharp and accidents may occur, including (but not limited to):
-
Nicks, cuts, scratches;
-
Nail quicking.
9.2 Accidents are more likely where pets are moving, struggling, or displaying aggression.
9.3 We reserve the right to cease grooming if, in our opinion, it is unsafe to continue.
10. Vaccinations
10.1 By booking our services, you confirm that your pet’s vaccinations are current and up to date.
11. Parasites (Fleas and Ticks)
11.1 We maintain a flea- and tick-free salon.
11.2 If your pet is found to have an infestation, the appointment will be terminated and must be rescheduled once the issue is resolved.
11.3 Additional charges may apply for salon decontamination.
12. Pregnant Pets
12.1 Pregnant dogs are not accepted for grooming under any circumstances.
13. Liability and Indemnity
13.1 By using our services, you agree to hold East Lothian Dog Grooming harmless from any damage, loss, injury, or claim arising from any condition of your pet, whether disclosed or undisclosed.
13.2 You further acknowledge that:
-
These Terms and Conditions may be varied from time to time without prior notice; and
-
The most recent version will supersede all previous versions.
13.3 These Terms apply to all pets groomed by us.
